The wait was finally over with the first round of the DTM Trophy taking place at the Lausitzring. New car, new track, new competition. Colin came prepared: “I am more than thrilled and absolutely ready!”.

 TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES ON SATURDAY

Being the fastest BMW in the first free practice, the team was happy with the pace. The second free practice was cut short after just 2 fast laps because of blown tyre.

Bad luck the entire Saturday. Trouble with the pace of the BMW in the qualifying resulted in a P12. In the race Colin’s #47 was squeezed at the start but gaining positions quickly. With 10 minutes to go a technical failure forced the car to retire.

FIRST PODIUM IN DTM TROPHY!

Sunday started out a lot better. Colin drove to P5 in the second qualifying round and was the fastest BMW on track, due to a great team effort to recover from Saturday.

An exciting race followed with Colin showing some amazing take overs. There was a good fight till the end between the BMW’s of Theo Oeverhaus and Colin for P2 and 3 behind the faster Toyota of Tim Heinemann. Colin had to render P2 to Theo Oeverhaus in a sensational, sportsmanlike last lap, resulting in P1 for Heinemann, P2 for Oeverhaus and P3 for Colin Caresani.

Colin was happy with the results:

“Amazing race, we took a crazy amount of risks and in the end it worked out. P3 it is. Happy with the team efforts and we’re hungry for more. Not bad for our first GT4 weekend!”.

The next races will take place from 17 to 19 June at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola.
